Fair Tradition

It's that time of year again.

Time for the San Diego County Fair in Del Mar.

The theme is A Fair To Remember.

And what I will remember this year is a cool breeze (we got there in the evening), fewer crowds (apparently Wednesday night is not that popular) and a very scaled-down Landscaping exhibit (there seemed to be more ground cover than plants).

Succulents and cactus and rocks, becoming prominent in San Diego yards.

Rain barrel and rain chain are given prominence.

Drought tolerant and colorful!

Design in Wood exhibit, I was drawn to all the chairs:

Perfect for Edith Ann

Tables and tackle boxes were also admired:

Nighttime brought out the outline of flying feet and hands:

Starbucks, deep-fried, can't even imagine.

Cows are ready for a snooze.

Pockets of nostalgia:

Oh my, is that a beehive hair-do?

Or a bump? A pouf?

La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club

No, I am not a member.

But Saturday I sailed through the entrance waving my event ticket and had a chance to wander around the grounds.

So I stopped and smelled the roses.

Let's take a quick tour:

National Donut Day

An ordinary beach day in June.

Gets kicked up a notch on the first Friday of the month, National Donut Day.

Aren't we San Diegans lucky that VG Donut is just across the street from San Elijo State Beach!

Barely enough steps to walk off the calories.

Unless we make a trek back to get a jelly-filled...

Happy Friday!
