Twisted Vine Bistro and Wine Bar

Sign On San Diego featured a list of new restaurants and this one in Torrey Highlands jumped out.

Probably because it opened for brunch this weekend.

Breakfast is a big deal in our household.

Twisted Vine is in a shopping center.

So you have to hope the view inside is worthwhile.

The menu offered some fun twists to standard dishes.

Like the Garlic Mushroom Omelet with herbs and truffle oil.

And the Baja Benedict with lime crema for some zing.

Ordering a cup of coffee meant a mug and individual French press, ooh la la.

But there were hints here and there that they had just opened and were working out a few kinks – no hostess in front when we arrived and a long delay after we ordered as they had to dispatch an employee to hoof it over to the Albertson’s grocery store to get ingredients for a Bloody Mary (I guess that would be one of the advantages to being located in a shopping center).

Good hustle though and staff was quite friendly!
