Air Bags and Seat Belts

Days before our road trip, the AIR BAG light on the dashboard went on.

And stayed on.

Checked the manual and this could mean a number of things.

          1)   sensor is not working correctly

          2)   AIR BAG will not deploy in the case of an accident

          3)   AIR BAG will randomly deploy when not specifically needed

Hmmmmm, how important are air bags?

When I was a little kid they didn’t even have them.

Still, it did seem slightly ominous.

Called the dealer, dropped off the car, tests were done, paid $115 and drove away with a car that did not light up and get excited about air bags.

The following morning embarked on a 5-hour drive.

After fastening our seat belts.

Naturally the car had something to say about that.

The FASTEN BELTS light came on. Stayed on. Has been on ever since.

Wonder how much it is going to cost to dim that light.
