Surfing Madonna

Beneath a train overpass on Encinitas Boulevard just before you reach Pacific Coast Highway, there is a mural.

A stained glass mosaic of Our Lady of Guadalupe riding a surfboard.

It has generated a lot of controversy since April when the artwork was installed on public property without permission.

Yesterday a Flash Mob was to take place at 2:00 pm near the mosaic. Reported via the local news and FaceBook.

Since it wasn’t spontaneous, there was no dancing and the crowd of observers was much larger than the crowd of participants it would be the wildest stretch of the imagination to call it a Flash Mob.

See for yourself:

It was a group of locals, singing off key, who liked the artwork.
